Our Team
The Solve to Soar team is made up of 160+ passionate and dedicated volunteers from over 30 different schools all around the world.
At the heart of our organisation are our executive and leadership teams, who guide and support every part of our work. We also actively track volunteer hours for all our events and recognise the commitment of those who volunteer regularly with us.

Founder and President
Hi, my name is Christa, and I am a current junior studying at Hong Kong International School and the founder and president of Solve to Soar. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong interest in mathematics, not just as an academic subject but as a practical tool that can expand opportunities and build confidence. However, through my experiences in school and community work, I've also become aware of the inequalities that hinder access to quality education, particularly due to the reliance on shadow education. Therefore, with Solve to Soar, which I founded in 2024, my mission is to address these inequalities hands-on by providing free math tutoring to students who need it most. I am eager to merge my passion for math and service to create meaningful change in our local community. Outside of tutoring, you will find me doomscrolling with my 15 hour daily screen time, studying in 813 during occasional bursts of motivation, and cafe hopping.

Executive Team
Christa Chan

Vice President
Pansy cheung
Hello! I am Pansy, a Year 10 student at Victoria Shanghai Academy. I have been a frequent volunteer at Solve to Soar since February 2025, and since then, I have not only contributed as a volunteer but also assisted in the behind-the-scenes efforts of the organisation, including proposing new initiatives that enhanced our work and even starting a club at VSA. As Human Resources Director last year, I also had the chance to contribute by managing our growing community of volunteers. These experiences have helped me grow a lot and improve in many different aspects, from having better patience to improving my time management skills. Now, as the Vice President of this organization, I am excited to show my dedication to this amazing team and continue deepening my impact with Solve Soar. When I am not working, I enjoy playing badminton, doing ballet, and baking. I also like reading, watching TV shows, and sleeping.

Human Resources Director
Lara Lai
Hi everyone! I’m Lara, a rising G/10 student studying at Victoria Shanghai Academy. I’ve recently become a regular volunteer, contributing with the visible and behind the scenes; while assisting with the hands-on volunteering at Shek Pai Wan and Hung Hom, I’ve also been involved with aiding the former Human Resources Director with her work, drafting the messages used to reach out to volunteers. These experiences have not only allowed my development of communication skills, interacting with the kindergarten kids and reaching out to new volunteers, but also provided deeper insight into the educational disparities in HK. As the newly appointed Human Resources Director, I am excited to contribute my interpersonal skills to Solve to Soar by warmly welcoming new volunteers! Outside of Solve to Soar, you’ll find me gushing over different species of sea slugs while snacking on a big bag of prawn cocktail crisps (walkers only!) while also binging netflix shows.

Marketing Director
Meagan Ho
Hi, my name is Meagan. I am a current junior studying at Hong Kong International School, and I have been volunteering with Solve to Soar since early 2025. As a weekly volunteer at Good Mansion, I have enjoyed interacting and teaching students of many grade levels as well as meeting other volunteers who share similar interests. Working with students and other volunteers, I have gained a lot of knowledge and valuable insights both about teaching and also about the education inequality crisis in Hong Kong. Therefore, as part of the Executive Committee, specifically Marketing Director this year, I wish to continue contributing to the organization by helping plan and organize more sessions and events in the future. Outside of Solve to Soar, I enjoy figure skating, tennis, playing the viola, and binging tv shows. :)

Outreach Director
Josephine Wan
Hello everyone! My name is Josephine, and I am a Grade 11 student studying at Hong Kong International School. I have been volunteering with Solve to Soar since the start of 2025, and over the past year, I have had the privilege of working closely with many of our students as well as fellow volunteers who share my passion for educational equity and community service. As a regular volunteer, I have also been able to develop many meaningful connections with the children I tutor. Now, as Outreach Director, I am excited to combine my strengths in math and leadership to enhance our volunteer programs. In this role, I hope to contribute as more than just a volunteer by taking initiative in communicating with staff at our various NGO partners, coordinating new collaborations, and helping organize our weekly tutoring sessions so that they run smoothly. Aside from Solve to Soar, you will catch me playing roblox, binge watching Brooklyn 99, and baking.
Leadership Team

Anthony Mang
Executive Assistant
Hi everyone, I’m Anthony, a G11 student at Hong Kong International School. Having volunteered since June 2024, Solve to Soar opened my eyes to the shadow education crisis across Hong Kong. When serving on the team last year, I was able to use my passion and abilities to support operations and extend Solve to Soar’s reach to more people. This year, I want to continue this impact and create larger, more concrete change to society through dedicated mentorship. Outside of Solve to Soar, a few things I enjoy are trying new restaurants and taking naps. Excited to work with you soon!

Lynette Lau
Graphic Designer
Hiii, I’m Lynette! I am a G10 student at VSA, a frequent volunteer at Solve to Soar, and a returning graphic designer. Over the past year, I have not only learned a lot, especially how consistent support is crucial to the gradual educational development of students, but volunteering has also broadened my understanding of the educational disparities in Hong Kong. As a graphic designer, I aim to use my design skills to expand STS's reach and continue supporting children in need. When I'm not engaged in anything art-related, I'll probably be found rewatching all 140 LEGO friends webisodes in the span of one day.
Kalea Yip
Graphic Designer
Hi, I’m Kalea, and I’m an 11th grader at Hong Kong International School. I’ve been volunteering with Solve to Soar for around 2 years now, and am delighted to be on the leadership team this year! Working with Solve to Soar has been really meaningful to me the past couple of years, as working with these children has sparked my passion for helping others. As a graphic designer this year, I will focus on making sure that information is organized and concise, so that others can easily understand it. When I am not watching Friends or Modern Family in my bedroom, I enjoy hanging out with friends or cooking meals at home.

Sian Chan
Web Designer
Hi, I'm Sian, a Y12 student at Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School (PLKCKY School). Drawing and designing has always been my safe haven ever since I was little. At the same time, nothing beats the euphoria and satisfaction I feel when lending a helping hand to someone in need. So, I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity to become one of Solve to Soar’s Web Designers, since it allows me to contribute to society while doing the thing I love and do best. When I'm not working on design projects, I like to decompress by reading or snacking on soda crackers.
Gabriel Ho
Web Designer
Hi, I’m Gabriel, a junior at Palo Alto High School, and I have been volunteering at Solve to Soar since my freshmen year. Volunteering has not only allowed me to gain teaching experience, but also showed me a different side of Hong Kong. As a returning Web Designer for Solve to Soar, and my aim is to create and maintain a working website with information, events, pictures, and more. I’m excited to use my web designing skills to further contribute to Solve to Soar’s cause. Outside of this NGO, I enjoy playing sports such as badminton and soccer as well as travelling around the world.

Hi, I'm Liya, a Y10 student from Victoria Shanghai Academy! I'm incredibly grateful to become Solve to Soar's financial director this year and I'm looking forward to applying my skills in math to make an even larger impact! Benjamin Wang
Finance Manager
Hello, I am Benjamin, a current junior at Hong Kong International School. Regularly volunteering with Solve to Soar since the beginning of 2025 has ignited my passion for teaching and provided me with valuable insights into the less represented side of Hong Kong. As Finance Manager, I aim to take initiative by managing Solve to Soar’s funds and grants while also attending and leading weekly sessions at Tin Shui Wai. Outside of Solve to Soar, you’ll catch me playing the violin, browsing social media, or tackling a few chemistry problems when I’m motivated.

Steve Chan
Resources Manager
Hi everyone, I am Steve, a sophomore at Hong Kong International School and a regular volunteer at Tin Shui Wai. Having volunteered since the 24/25 school year, my experience has broadened my perspective on educational inequality across Hong Kong and the challenges many students face outside the classroom. As a regular volunteer last year, I’ve been able to use my interests and strengths to build meaningful connections and support their learning in a more personal way.
