Founder and President
+ Marketing Director
Hi, I'm Christa, a current sophomore studying at Hong Kong International School, and I am the founder, president, and marketing director of Solve to Soar. If I were to describe myself, I would say that I am someone with many diverse interests. From ballet to tennis to horse riding, I have tried them all. Currently, I love table tennis, percussion, and of course, math. As you probably already know, Solve to Soar lays a huge focus on math. Since I was in middle school, I have had a deep seated passion for math. I believe that math is not just a subject in school; it is a vital tool that opens doors to endless opportunities. However, I've also become aware of the inequalities that hinder access to quality education. I am aware of the shadow education crisis in Hong Kong, where students rely on tutoring and classes to help them keep up in school. Because of this, many students from underserved communities are left behind due to barriers in resources. Therefore, with Solve to Soar, my mission is to address these inequalities hands-on. As an organisation, we aim to provide free math tutoring to students who need it most. I am eager to merge my passion for math, service, and marketing to create meaningful change in our local community.

Sian Chan
Graphic Designer
Hi, I'm Sian, a rising Y11 student at Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School (PLKCKY School). Drawing and designing has always been my safe haven ever since I was little. At the same time, nothing beats the euphoria and satisfaction I feel when lending a helping hand to someone in need. So, I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity to become one of Solve to Soar’s Graphic Designers, since it allows me to contribute to society while doing the thing I love and do best. When I'm not working on design projects, I like to decompress by reading or snacking on soda crackers.
Lynette lau
Graphic Designer
Hey, I'm Lynette, an impending Year 9 student studying at Victoria Shanghai Academy. Though I am a new member of this organization and still acquiring insight, I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to become a graphic designer for Solve to Soar! I look forward to creating fun memories with you all and putting my designing skills to use in making a meaningful impact on society. When I'm not engaged in anything art-related, you’ll often catch me binge-watching shows on Netflix, reading a book, or doom-scrolling on Instagram.

Hi everyone! I’m Chloe, an upcoming sophomore at Choate Rosemary Hall. From the differences in local and private schools to tutoring and self-studying, I have always been aware of the drastic educational inequality rooted in Hong Kong’s socioeconomic framework. Unfortunately, I never found the opportunity to bridge Hong Kong’s ever-growing educational gap until I joined Solve to Soar. As a web designer, I hope to raise awareness about this issue and expand this initiative by making our organization more well-known. When I’m not on Wix, you can find me cooking, exercising, or exploring fashion.
Gabriel Ho
Web Designer
Hi, I’m Gabriel, a rising sophomore at HKIS, and I am a regular volunteer at Good Mansion. Volunteering has not only allowed me to gain teaching experience, but also showed me a different side of Hong Kong. I am now a Web Designer for Solve to Soar, and my aim is to create and maintain a working website with information, events, pictures, and more. I’m excited to use my web designing skills to further contribute to this cause. Outside of this NGO, I enjoy playing sports such as badminton and soccer, as well as travelling around the world.

Thea Bondada
Internal Relations Manager
Hi everyone! My name is Thea, and I’m a current junior (G11/Y12) at Hong Kong International School. I began volunteering in October of 2024, this opportunity has been a transformative experience. Not only have I been able to deepen my knowledge on a serious issue faced in Hong Kong, but I have also created a bond with students I work with, being able to participate in friendly and meaningful conversations. As internal relations manager, I look forward to helping the Solve to Soar volunteers with all their questions. Outside of Solve to Soar, I enjoy spending time with my dog, dancing, playing soccer and watching sit-coms!
Annabelle Sun
Internal Relations Manager
Hey everyone! I’m Annabelle, a rising junior at Hong Kong International School. I have been a member of Solve to Soar for around a year now and have really enjoyed the opportunity to not only create a positive impact for the children we work with but to also create a productive environment for our members. I am so grateful and excited to be Solve to Soar’s internal relations manager this year. I enjoy reading, watching true crime documentaries and going to the beach during my free time.

Hi, I’m Claudia, a Y11 student at CKY. I’m proud to be a debater and a scholar; my privilege to learn is not lost on me, and I hope to bridge the socio economic gap in Hong Kong. As an external relations manager, I hope to use the skills I've learned in previous leadership positions to contribute. I look forward to learning from my fellow leadership team, interacting with the children, and building the foundation of their education. I believe everyone deserves quality education, and I'm glad to be able to contribute to a worthy cause. When I'm not working, I enjoy reading and listening to music.
Benjamin Yang
External Relations Manager (Tin Shui Wai)
Hello, I’m Benjamin, a sophomore at HKIS. Regularly volunteering with Solve to Soar since Q1 of 2025 has ignited my passion for teaching and provided me with valuable insights into the less represented side of Hong Kong. As an External Relations Manager, I aim to take initiative in communicating with staff at Tin Shui Wai while organizing our weekly sessions to ensure they run smoothly. Outside of Solve to Soar, you’ll catch me playing the violin, browsing social media, or tackling a few chemistry problems when I’m motivated.

Josephine Wan
Program Development Manager (Hung Hom)
Hi, my name is Josephine. I am a incoming sophomore at HKIS. I joined Solve to Soar at the start of 2025, and as a regular volunteer, I have developed many meaningful connections with the children. Now, as a program development manager, I am excited to combine my passion for math and leadership to enhance our volunteer programs. In this role, I’ll focus on designing engaging lesson plans, and making lessons both educational and enjoyable for students. In my free time, I like to play roblox, binge watch Brooklyn 99, and bake.
Elaine Wang
Program Development Manager (Tin Shui Wai)
Hi! My name is Elaine, and I am a rising sophomore at Hong Kong International School. As a regular volunteer, I have developed strong bonds with all the students at Tin Shui Wai. The experiences have taught me invaluable lessons— how to recognize a child’s underlying needs, how to spark a love of learning using patience and connection, how to prompt teamwork and communication in kids using creative, meaningful learning activities. Through activities like board games and math themed easter egg hunts, I am always brainstorming new ideas to make math fun. As the program manager at Tin Shui Wai, I hope to use the lessons I’ve learnt to nurture students using carefully designed and creative lesson plans, math games, and collaboration activities.

Alec Chan
Resource Manager (Hung Hom)
Hi, I’m Alec! As an 8th grader at HKIS, I am the youngest member on Solve to Soar's leadership team. I love volunteering with Solve to Soar and especially enjoy spending time with our students. Now, I’m excited to be the Resource Manager—where I’ll organize materials and prepare worksheets for the volunteer sessions at Hung Hom.
